🌱 Plant Description
Growth Habit: Fast-growing, woody vine that climbs by means of hook-like thorns that resemble a cat’s claw.
Height/Length: Can reach up to 30 meters (100 feet) in length if supported.
Leaves: Glossy, ovate leaves arranged oppositely, with smooth edges and a pointed tip.
Thorns: Paired, curved thorns at the base of the leaves used for climbing.
Flowers: Small, tubular, yellowish-white to pale pink, borne in dense clusters; often inconspicuous.
Fruit: A dry capsule containing winged seeds.
🌍 Habitat & Distribution
Native to South and Central America, especially the Amazon basin.
Grows in tropical forests, along riverbanks, and in disturbed areas with full to partial sun.
